Dribble Bar Effluent Application: Better Laid Than Sprayed

A dribble bar lays effluent in bands directly on the ground instead of spraying it into the air. That means less smell, less drift and more of the nutrients you've paid for staying in your soil. At Paramount Effluent, every spreading job is done with a dribble bar.

Why a dribble bar beats spraying

  • Less odour. Effluent goes straight onto the ground, so far less smell reaches your neighbours.
  • Less drift. No spray means no effluent blowing onto lanes, troughs, waterways or the farm next door.
  • More nutrients kept in the soil. Less nitrogen is lost to the air, so more stays in the soil for your pasture or crop.
  • Even, controlled application. Effluent is spread evenly across the paddock at a set rate, which lowers the risk of ponding and runoff into waterways.

How dribble bar spreading works

Our dribble bar is towed by a tractor and fed by our umbilical system, with up to 1.6 km of hose running back to your pond. Effluent flows through a row of pipes that lay it in bands on the soil surface across the full width of the bar. A flow meter linked to Tabula records GPS proof of placement, so you get a report showing where your effluent was applied and at what rate.

Dribble bar vs spray irrigator

  • Odour: dribble bar low, spray irrigator high
  • Drift: dribble bar none, spray irrigator can drift in wind
  • Nutrient loss to air: dribble bar lower, spray irrigator higher
  • Even coverage: dribble bar full width and length of the paddock, irrigators can miss areas or over-apply
  • Proof of placement: dribble bar GPS mapped through Tabula

Helping you stay compliant

Controlled application rates and GPS records make it easier to meet Waikato Regional Council rules. Read our guide to Waikato effluent rules to find out more.
